What Drawing Diesdo you offer?
We supply a comprehensive range of dies for wire drawing to producers in the wire and cable industry worldwide. Whether you operate a rod breakdown line, a fine wire drawing machine, or a multi-pass wet drawing bench, we source the right die for your application from our network of qualified tooling manufacturers. Our catalogue covers tungsten carbide drawing dies, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) dies, natural diamond dies, and ceramic dies, in bore sizes from sub-0.1 mm up to 30 mm and beyond, and in casings compatible with all major machine brands and die holder standards. We work with producers drawing copper, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, and specialty alloys, and we supply both individual replacement dies and full pass-schedule sets.
A wire drawing die is a precision tool through which wire rod or wire is pulled to reduce its cross-sectional area and achieve the target diameter and surface finish. Each die consists of a nib — the hard insert where the wire is shaped — and a casing that holds the nib and fits the machine’s die holder. The nib geometry defines the outcome: the entry angle guides the wire in, the approach (reduction) zone applies the actual diameter reduction, the bearing zone sets the final diameter and influences surface finish, and the exit angle releases the wire cleanly. Selecting the right die material and geometry for each pass is critical to wire quality, die life, and line efficiency. Tungsten carbide is the industry standard for medium and coarse gauge drawing; PCD and natural diamond are preferred for fine wire and high-speed applications where surface finish and die life are paramount.
Tungsten carbide (TC) dies are the most widely used type in rod breakdown, intermediate, and finishing passes for copper, aluminum, and steel. They offer an excellent balance of hardness, toughness, and cost, and are available in multiple carbide grades tuned for different wire materials and drawing speeds. Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) dies, also known as compax or synthetic diamond dies, are the preferred choice for fine wire finishing passes and high-speed wet drawing lines, where their superior hardness and wear resistance translate into longer die life, tighter diameter tolerances, and better surface quality. Natural diamond dies remain the benchmark for ultra-fine wire — below 0.1 mm — where no other material matches their polishability and precision. Ceramic dies offer a corrosion-resistant alternative for specific chemically aggressive environments. We source all four types and can advise on the most cost-effective solution for each position in your pass schedule.
We operate as a specialized distributor for the wire and cable industry, giving our customers access to a wide supplier base without the need to manage multiple tooling vendors. We handle sourcing, quality verification, and worldwide delivery of wire drawing dies, including urgent replacement orders to minimize unplanned downtime. Our team can work from your existing die specification, a worn sample die, or your target wire diameter and reduction ratio to identify or develop the correct replacement. We supply single dies, matched sets, and full pass-schedule tooling packages, and we support customers across rod breakdown, intermediate drawing, and fine wire finishing stages of production.
